かりだす【駆り出す･狩り出す】

1 〔猟獣･逃亡犯などを〕 flush 《sb [sth]》 from 《a hiding place》; flush out 《a deer, a rabbit, an escapee》.

●イノシシをやぶから駆り出す flush a wild boar from a thicket

・山中に逃げ込んだ凶悪犯を駆り出す flush out a dangerous criminal who has escaped into the hills.

2 〔強引に参加させる〕 impress; recruit.

●老人までも軍隊に狩り出す impress even old people into an army

・すべての成人男子を戦争に狩り出す impress all adult males into a war.

●農繁期には昔は子供まで駆り出したものだ. In the busy farming season in the old days, even children were impressed [recruited, forced] into helping out.
